Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is used to insulate, air seal, manage moisture and improve structural strength in commercial and residential buildings. The superior insulating performance of closed-cell SPF (ccSPF) is the result of insulating gas in the cells of the foam made possible with a foam blowing agent.

As the leading supplier of foam blowing agents for ccSPF, we offer two liquid blowing agents: Enovate® 245fa and Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA).

Our new Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA) provides insulation with lower environmental impact than current materials. With a low global warming potential (GWP) of 1, Solstice LBA is a superior choice for use in spray polyurethane foam insulation.

Solstice LBA for spray foam provides an ideal replacement for HFC-245fa and represents the “next generation” of foam blowing agent technology.

Solstice LBA for spray foam offers:

  • Improved k-factor – 2-4% better than foams made with HFC-245fa
  • Higher solubility in polyol blends
  • Lower vapor pressure in polyol blends

Enovate® 245fa (HFC-245fa) is a nonflammable, non-ozone-depleting foam blowing agent and is Honeywell’s proven technology for closed-cell spray polyurethane foam. The U.S. EPA has listed Enovate under the Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) as a suitable replacement in all foam applications.

Honeywell’s Enovate 245fa is a near drop-in replacement for HCFC-141b, HCFC-22 and other foam blowing agents.

Enovate 245fa has been successfully used by many spray foam manufacturers and systems houses as a replacement for HCFC-141b (being phased out per the Montreal Protocol) and other fluorocarbon and non-fluorocarbon foam blowing agents.

Enovate Blowing Agent for spray foam offers:

  • Outstanding thermal insulating and air sealing performance. R-values* for ccSPF are typically >6 (one inch thickness at 75°F)
  • Considered a non-VOC (U.S.)
  • Excellent compatibility with materials and equipment
