High Performance Foam Blowing Agent = High Value XPS

XPS foam is a rigid insulation manufactured using an extrusion process that includes polystyrene polymer, a foam blowing agent, and other materials to identify a product or brand.

XPS rigid insulation is an excellent insulator, does not support mold or mildew growth, may be used below grade, and is found in a wide variety of commercial and residential construction applications.

Honeywell offers Solstice® Gas Blowing Agent for XPS applications.

The selection of foam blowing agent directly impacts XPS performance including thermal properties (insulation values), compressive strength, and compliance with global initiatives designed to reduce the use of materials with a
demonstrated impact on global warming.

Honeywell Solstice Gas Blowing Agent (GBA) has been developed specifically for extruded polystyrene and pressurized one- and two-component PUR foams.

With a global warming potential (GWP of) <1, it’s a replacement for HFC-134a and other fluorocarbon and non-fluorocarbon foam blowing agents.

Solstice Gas Blowing Agent offers:

  • Nonflammablility by ASTM E-681 and EU A11 test methods
  • GWP of <1
  • Low Maximum Incremental Reactivity (MIR)
  • Low photochemical ozone creation potential (POCP)
  • VOC-exempt in U.S.
